Satan's Bait and Switch Strategy

In the business world, "bait and switch" is a term that describes a fraudulent sales practice. It's the classic scenario where a buyer is lured into a deal with the promise of a specific item, only to find that another, lesser product has been substituted. Sound familiar? It's like being promised a dream vacation and ending up in your backyard with a kiddie pool.
The Original Bait and Switch
Here's a thought that might surprise you: this concept of bait and switch is woven into the very fabric of this Great Controversy we're currently living in. Consider these words from Ellen White's, The Story of Redemption. She writes, "These angels, true to God, stood in amazement as they saw that Lucifer was successful in his effort to incite rebellion. He promised them a new and better government than they then had, in which all would be freedom."
He claimed that angels needed no law but should be left free to follow their own will which would ever guide them right. Tragically, one-third of the heavenly angels fell for this first, bait and switch scheme. They were promised a better existence, only to find themselves in a fallen state, caste out of heaven, and separated from the presence of God.
Satan's Timeless Temptations
Fast forward to Satan's temptation of Christ in the wilderness. Here is a prime example of bait and switch. "If you are the Son of God, turn these stones to bread," he said. Here, Satan was offering worldly treasures in exchange for worship. Satan's favorite hook, offering the world’s treasures, has ensnared many, from rock stars to sports legends, who claim to have sold their souls to him for fortune and fame.
About Our Ministry
At Everlasting Way Advent Fellowship, we claim to be Historic Adventists. In other words, we want to mirror the beliefs and theological convictions of the early advent pioneers rather than the modern Seventh Day Adventist church as it is today.
We have intentionally adopted the original principles of the founding Church (from 1889-1930), and we reject the current Seventh Day Adventist creed as it is stated in their 28 Fundamental Beliefs. Here are a few of our points of contention:
We do not support the Adventist Church being associated with the United Nations, or the World Council of Churches, or participating in any ecumenical initiatives, including those involving the Catholic Church, whatsoever.
We are against selling out to any government entity for preferential treatment or tax advantaged purposes, and wholly support the separation of church and state.
We still hold to the original protestant reformers mantra of "sola scriptura" or the Bible and the Bible alone, and reject any doctrine that is not substantiated scripturally by a clear "THUS SAITH THE LORD."
Bait and Switch in the Seventh Day Adventist Church
This brings us to a very key doctrinal issue, the Trinity. This doctrine is not found in the Bible, was not followed by the original SDA pioneers, and has been foisted off on the rank and file members of the Church by sophistry, intrigue, and subtle deception. The bottom line, is that the Seventh Day Adventist Church has been victimized by an elaborate bait and switch scheme.
In John 17:3 our Lord Jesus clearly prays, "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
Nowhere in this passage, or anywhere else in the Bible, is a Trinity, Three in One, or Triune god mentioned. Nor is the Holy Spirit ever referred to as, "God the Spirit". Rather, It is referred to several times as the, "Spirit of God", showing the ownership and ultimate source of the Spirit, God the Father.
The Trinity lie has replaced the One True God with a Three in One God. This lie breaks the very first of the Ten Commandments, "You shall have no other god's before me." It is one of Satan's greatest deceptions. It is the ultimate bait and switch scheme and sadly, the Seventh Day Adventist Church has fallen for it, hook, line, and sinker.
Hope Beyond Deception
For everything that is good and true, Satan has a counterfeit. That is the bad news. But here's the good news. God does not bait and switch. He promises to give us life, and he will give us life. He promises that there will be no more tears, no more sorrow, nor pain, sickness, or suffering, and He will deliver on that promise.
Remember His promise in Revelation 21:5, "Behold, I make all things new." Aren't you glad that we serve a God that doesn't do bait and switch?
When God says, "I will make all things new," that is exactly what He will do.
